Russian President Vladimir Putin is giving direct orders to generals on the battlefield, two sources of American and Western intelligence -- a very unusual tactic for the modern military, which these sources say the unified command structure has hampered Russia's war from the beginning.
Intelligence sources have seized moments when Russian officers have argued and complained towards family relatives about the decision-making coming from Moscow, one of the sources for CNN said.
According to U.S. intelligence sources, among the military leaders there are outstanding incompatibility even on strategy where to focus the effort to break defence lines.
The Russian Defence Ministry has claimed it is moving its forces towards Kharkiv to the northeast, where Ukraine has scored big victories, but American and western sources say most Russian troops remain still south, the region when Ukraine also conducted offensive operations.
So far, Russia has responded to Ukraine's advances by launching attacks on civilian infrastructure, attacks the US describes as completely “aggravation”, a source said.
The command of the mobilization by Putin is significant because it is a direct admission that <x0 military reference” is not functioning and should be adjusted, military analysts said. /Periscopi/
