Financial assistance will support Albania's reforms regarding the enlargement process of up to 600m euros for the next seven years.
The EU Agreement (The Financial Framework Partnership Agreement) will allow Albania to receive funds from the EU's Instrument for Pre-membership Assistance (IPAIII).
This pre-membership assistance supports EU candidate countries and potential candidates in the adoption and implementation of key political, institutional, social and economic reforms to comply with EU values and to progressively approach EU rules, standards and policies.
The new financing, which will not need to be repaid, will be directed to a range of sectors such as reform in justice, environment, energy, private sector development, agriculture, employment and social inclusion, good governance and decentralisation, and local and civil governance.
