I am happy to welcome the European Cities Association delegation in Ukraine. We appreciate that at this difficult time when our country is fighting the Russian invasion, you are close to us. We will also be grateful for help in restoring residences, infrastructure and conditions for the return of Ukrainians to their homeland. Important that reconstruction began not after the war, but now”, Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president suggested that the Memorandum of Understanding was signed to support the sustainable reconstruction of the cities of Ukraine.
In a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, Tirana's municipality will build a new school in the war-torn town of Kharkiwi, and help with the reconstruction process. That was after Mayor Veliaj responded positively to Kharkiwi's mayor's invitation to be part of the Co-ordination Council of Partner Cities, which will help rebuild Ukraine. Veliaj expressed Tirana's readiness to contribute to the reconstruction and overcoming the consequences of the war.
We remember that Albania, Montenegro and Northern Macedonia will rebuild a housing block in Irpin, one of the most destroyed cities in Ukraine due to attacks by Russia. This was done by Prime Minister Edi Rama during the visit to Ukraine on 15 June, accompanied by Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic.
