André Wylie, Rushdie's agent, told the New York Times on an email Friday evening that author “will probably lose one eye; the nerves on his arm were cut; and his liver was stabbed and damaged...”
His statement comes after New York police have identified the suspect as Hades Mostar and continues investigations into the attack. Report Express.
Rushdie was stabbed while on stage at the Chautaqua Institute.
State police said Matar, 24, from Fairview, New Jersey, quickly took the stage and stabbed Rushdie, 75, who reportedly had knives on his neck and chest.
The public and the institution's staff helped stop Matar, who had bought a ticket for the speech and was arrested by a state effective who was tasked with maintaining security, State Police said. Rushdie was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
