Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said reciprocity, which is expected to start in September on the license issue to Serbian citizens, will not be done against Serbs.
He said Sunday in “BBC World Service” that this is about respecting law and reciprocity.
On October 1st, we hope to have no documents that are not legitimate, except those known as “RKS” or Republic of Kosovo. This is not against Serbs, but is being done for respecting law and reciprocity”, Kurti said.
According to Kurti, one of the factors that led to the reaching of the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia on the document issue is that on August 1st, Kosovo issued to Serbs over two thousand documents with the inscription “Republic of Kosovo”. According to him, issuing documents for 19 hours was conducted without incidents and complaints.
Kurti said that for the deal reached on Saturday (August 27th), EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell, EU envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and US envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar contributed. Kurti also thanked the people of Kosovo for their patience and support.
According to him, official Belgrade is insisting on some kind of compensation for Kosovo's loss, and that, according to Kurti, is not being made public and vocal.
He said that after the end of the war, part of the Serbs remained in Kosovo, exploiting former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic's time documents and plates.
“Milosevqi began the fight not only against the Kosovo Liberation Army and the people of Kosovo, but also against 19 NATO member states”.
