Through a Facebook post, Kurti said such cases should be handled with high seriousness at the institutional, social and cultural level.
The prime minister added that the minor should receive institutional and social support as well as maximum care.
Prime Minister Kurti's full submission:
“Cursor punishment for 11-year-old girl rapists
I request from law enforcement and investigative agencies that place suspects as quickly as possible before justice, and that the perpetrators receive merit punishment for such a serious and shocking, punishable and unacceptable work.
Such brutal acts of violence against children should be treated with high seriousness, institutionally, but socially and culturally.
Violence against women and girls is not a private matter, but a matter of security and well-being, public and social.
The minor girl must receive institutional and social support, maximum care and adequate care, health and psychological care. It should not be allowed to steal her childhood and ruin her life. Neither she nor any other girl.
We need the maximum commitment of all institutions, as well as any of us, to further our efforts to eradicate gender-based violence. Eliminating violence is the duty of each separately and all of them together”.
Unlike the five persons allegedly raping the minor in Pristina on Saturday, four have been arrested, two of whom have been assigned the detention measure in length of 30 days.
