Kurti, Italian newspaper: Serbs have two months to change Milosevic plates

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has been interviewing the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, where he talked about protests and blocking roads from Serbs in the north last Sunday. Kurti says the road blockade has been spontaneously but organised by Belgrade with Russia's help. “Conversion of Milosevic-led license plates is a decision [...]
“Conversion of the license plates introduced by Milosevic is my government's decision. They have two months. The same is true of documents: Sunday, for the few hours that have been in force, 2679 documents without incidents have been issued at the remaining border points. Therefore, they had to call someone for barricades: the protests did not arose spontaneously from below, it was organised by Belgrade and supported by Russia”, Kurti said.
Kosovo government chief has said the danger of a conflict in Kosovo exists following the invasion of Ukraine from Russia.
I don't mean very high, even because we have the NATO contingent here, but certainly high. We're a democracy on the border with an autism, after all. Prior to Ukraine's conquest, the odds were slim, now the situation has changed. The first episode, the result of the fascist idea of the Kremlinic panslavism, was Ukraine. If we have a second episode, for example in Transnistria, then the likelihood of a third war being fought in the Western Balkans, and in Kosovo in particular, they will be very high”, Kurti said.
Asked about Serbian military maneuvers along the border with Kosovo, Kurti said there are 48 Serbian military bases set up by Serbia.
Last year's “they planned 91 joint military exercises and did 104. The two most important are called the Slavic Shield and the Slavic Brotherhood. Since August 2001, Serbia has established 48 operational bases ahead, 28 military and 20 gendarmerie. Serbian veterans have all become pro-Russian. As to say: the danger exists and we warn it”, he said.
Speaking of the road blockade last Sunday, Prime Minister Kurti said people in the blockade work at illegal structures in northern Kosovo and are paid by Belgrade.
The prosecutor is watching videos posted on social networks. They were persons on the Belgrade salary list working on illegal structures in northern Kosovo. Some of them were truly criminals, as last year they ended up on the US Treasury Department blacklist. I refer to Radoichiqi and Veselinovic. It was deja vu: that approach was used by Serbs in the early 1990s during the breakup of Yugoslavia. But Kosovo is now a democratic country, they can do very little. They're frustrated because our economy, even though they don't recognize us as a state, is flourishing”, Kurti said.
He has also said that Kosovo's NATO membership helps peace in the region when it is asked whether it will create tensions with Serbia, the introduction of Kosovo into NATO.
The opposite is true. Our partnership with the Peace Programme and NATO membership will help maintain a lasting peace. Our heading is transparent. And it's based on Euro-Atlantic values”, Kurti said.
