The Kosovo government's warning of implementing the decision on reciprocity in the plates and documents with Serbia brought a tense situation yesterday to Kosovo's north. Several Serbian citizens in the north placed barricades at two Jarinje and Brnjak border points, as well as reported shootings.

Situated in northern Mitrovica, former KSF commander, Kadri Kastrati sees it as signs of destabilisation in Kosovo and the region.

Kastrat in a pronomation for Periscope He said what happened in the north is Russia's scenario aimed at destabilizing the Balkans.

“Absolutely I think there are signs of destabilisation in Kosovo and the region. This is Russia's scenario across Serbia that wants the Balkans to keep under tension to achieve its goals where they are fighting Russia-Ukrainian. Serbia's final goal is known to allow the weather through its agents and local extremists to destabilise Kosovo, and ultimately, as the main goal, to divide Kosovo's north and attach to Serbia”, said Kastrati.

The former KSF commander also received criticism from the country's prime minister, Albin Kurti.

He considers the government's immature last decision, as he did not consult the United States of America or security experts.

I fully support reciprocity and think that what happened last night has occurred to the Kosovo government because a decision is made now in an hour to cancel. I understand the influence of the United States, but initially it had to be consulted even with the U.S. Embassy, even with security experts that the decision would be stable and not be turned back”, he added.

Kastrati called the government's setback in the face of his decision, and that now puts Kosovo in an unpleasant situation.

I consider the humiliation that we have surrendered to Serb extremists and have surrendered to an action that is unacceptable to us and to anyone who respects the state, its integrity and sovereignty. The government had to consult in advance with our strategic partners, in particular with the US and with security experts rather than with them to make decisions, and after an hour to cancel them and some way to put itself in a bad position and the state of Kosovo”, the former commander said about Periscope.

According to him, Kosovo has been warned even earlier that there will be rising tensions, not excluding even a conflict.

Kosovo's “government and Kosovo institutions would have to assess Serbia's every move they want to achieve. We have seen the extremist wanted by Kosovo, Milan Radojqiq, have seen it before a short time, promoting ourselves in the mountains of northern Kosovo. It has been a warning of a destabilisation or a warning of an increase of tensions, perhaps the last one I don't want to happen, a” conflict, he concluded.

We remember that yesterday the Kosovo government has postponed the decision on Serbian license plates and documents by September 1st. This decision came after the request of the United States of America.

“We think such a delay would be important, because there seems to be disinformation and misunderstandings about these decisions. We hope that we will work with this Government and colleagues from the European Union to ensure that these agreements are better understood and thus reduce tensions”, American Ambassador Jeff Havenier declared yesterday.

As the government came up with announcement that decision will be postponed as barricades north of Kosovo withdraw

On this occasion, the Kosovo government vows to postpone implementation of two decisions from June 29, 2022, by September 1st, 2022, from the moment on Monday, August 1st 2022, when all barricades will be removed and full freedom of movement on all roads north of Kosovo” is said in the Government's announcement.

Kosovo police have confirmed that in four cases, barricades were placed in the northern part of the country yesterday.

According to police, citizens have suffered bodily injuries as well as broken vehicles.

Four cases have been reported so far, where Albanian citizens who circulated in that section have been banned and tortured, causing injuries and causing material damage to their vehicles, on the part of persons suspected of being part of road blocking organisations. Kosovo police will take all further actions in co-operation and co-ordination with justice bodies”, police have announced. /Iliriana Jaylan)Periscope
