Header The PDK, Memli Krasniqi, met yesterday and today with Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, along with US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Havenier and European Union Special Envoy for Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak.
Through a Facebook text, Krasniqi said that at these meetings it has been discussed developments about the dialogue process for normalising reports between Kosovo and Serbia.
“At these meetings I have expressed the PDK's consistent stance in defending the interests of our state, stressing the need for respect for legitimate decisions ensuring reciprocity in relation to Serbia, as well as the rule of law and free movement of all our citizens throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo”, Krasniqi wrote.
He also says the escalation of the situation in the north of the country should be averted and, for that, says commitment of all sides is required.
According to him, Kosovo's continued co-ordination with international partners is necessary.
“In the dialogue process, we have given the necessary space to the prime minister and Government to carry out their duties in defence of the country's interests, considering that this process is an option for achieving peace and closing the frozen conflict between Kosovo and Serbia. Because, Dialogue with Serbia we have never seen it as internal political battle”, Krasniqi wrote.
Here, head of The PDK received criticism from Prime Minister Kurti, saying its lack of transparency is harmful to the achievement of Kosovo's goals.
“Citizens have the right to know what the government's positions are on all issues under the dialogue. We believe that the priority should be commitment to reaching the final agreement, which brings mutual recognition and Kosovo's membership in the UN, NATO and the EU, preserving our country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The degradation of dialogue at the technical level does not help achieve these state objectives”, he said.
Krasniqi added that the PDK will always be engaged in the defence of Kosovo's interests, the country's sovereignty and implementation of constitutionality in the country's entire territory.
