KFOR Commander: We don't allow trouble

KFOR Commander Major General Ferenc Kayari in an interview for RTK, which will be broadcast in “tonight RTK Prime” at 20:20, has spoken of the security situation in Kosovo, privately in the north of the country, as well as of the possibilities of unrest in the event of failing to reach agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, in terms of [...]

KFOR commander has estimated that the security situation in the northern part has calmed down after the latest events, while saying he expects the ongoing negotiations to result with an agreement.

He has acknowledged that KFOR has increased its presence in the country's north. “KFOR has placed observation points and technical control points throughout the space. We have also increased patrol activity throughout the region. These measures are designed to be able to handle any incident and greater security. If there are tensions, we will act according to our mandate”, Kayari said.

He has said that KFOR will not allow road barricade because UN Resolution 1244 gives two tasks to KFOR in Kosovo, which he has called major tasks: To keep the environment safe and orderly in Kosovo and preserve freedom of free movement for all citizens.

If the barricades are created, this prevents free movement and if no agreement is reached, then we will arrive at a moment where KFOR will have to act to enable freedom of movement”, Kayari added.

He has called on all sides to refrain from unilateral actions and for everything to negotiate and achieve political agreements, as the establishment of barricades does not help resolve the situation, according to him.

KFOR commander, in the interview broadcast tonight, also talks about Serb criminal groups in the north, the activity of Milan Radojciqi, of the Serb's threatening graphs, of Serbian President Vuciq's request that KFOR be placed on the Ibri Bridge, of the eventual risk of war, of adding Serb forces close to Kosovo's borders, and much else.
