KFOR Commander: We've been discussing this with Kurt. It's not good to talk about war.

KFOR Commander Major General Ferenc Kayari, in an interview for RTK, has spoken of the women's threatening benefits of Serbs, of Serbian President Vuciq's request that KFOR be placed on the Ibri Bridge, of the eventual risk of war, of adding Serb forces close to Kosovo's borders, and much else. Kayar refused to comment [...]

Kayar declined to comment on whether Serbia's president has asked KFOR troops to focus on the Iber River bridge.

KFOR commander said that they and no one else decide for the activities of KFOR's military mission.

He also spoke of graphs in northern Kosovo and confirmed that in case of security risk, KFOR would act and generate evidence for that.

“Co-operation with the Kosovo Police is fair and good enough and they co-ordinate activity on the ground as well as some joint patrol”, Kayari said.

According to him, KFOR has its resources and is carefully monitoring the situation at the administrative border, and has not noticed anything special, has not tallied any unusual activity.

As far as the potential threat of war in Kosovo is concerned, KFOR commander has been clear.

The simplest response is no. I think war is not relevant, I believe. KFOR has not seen any indication of such an event. There's no threat to war in this part, NATO and KFOR are here”.

“NATO for a relatively short time can add military troops and additional means if there is a need for it, but it is not good to talk about war, this we have discussed with Prime Minister Kurti”, Kayari said.

He also spoke of the Serb Churches and Manastiers in Kosovo, claiming they are never endangered.

“KFOR is responsible for the security of the Decani Monastery and is the last object we care about, others have been handed over to the Kosovo Police, and they are doing an excellent job of protecting these religious sites, as well as the security and tranquillity there”, Kayari said.

He says KFOR will be responsible for the Decani Monastery until a decision to hand it over to Kosovo Police or other authorities.

We have no physical threat to the monasteries during my command, and we have no obligation to activate our troops for security in that area”, Kayari said.

KFOR commander also spoke of co-operation with the Kosovo Security Forces within its mandate, such as the removal of explosive devices, humanitarian aid and rescue search.

It has been shown many times that the Kosovo Security Forces are very capable of implementing their” tasks, Kayari said.
