Escobar: Blinken told Kurti and Osman that they should start discussing Association

US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told them that Kurti's Osman at the meeting they had at the State Department that we should start discussing association. “We believe there is a permanent solution to the [...] issue.
We believe there is a permanent solution to the car license issue. I believe that we are close to implementing the energy guide in the north, we are close to signing the agreement for the unemployed, and I hope that the parties will sign this agreement very soon. And as [American Secretary of State Antony Blinken told President [Vjosa Osmani] and [Albin Kurti] Kosovo Prime Minister when they were in the United States, we should start discussing the association”, He said.
Escobar said that for the United States, the Kosovo issue “is not an open issue”, as Washington wants Kosovo to be recognised by all EU states and to be joined by international organisations.
He said the US supports “fully the dialogue facilitated by the EU”.
During a conversation with reporters, Escobar said the US position is to implement all agreements reached within the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, but said there should be discussion on the issue of Association, so that it does not conflict with the laws.
We have been clear that the parties were hired earlier for association, so it should be discussed. However, the association should not intervene, should not conflict with the Constitution of Kosovo, should not create problems in Kosovo's functionality and should not be a state within a” state, he said.
Kosovo and Serbia hold discussions in Brussels under EU mediation since 2011. The dialogue process is aimed at full normalisation of reports.
Kosovo wants a final agreement to include mutual recognition, meanwhile, Serbia insists on a compromise solution.
