The Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF) shared the Award for Democracy to 2021 activists, writer and literature researcher Mrs. Ervina Halili, for the strong commitment to the preservation and gathering of the former social company's distributed archive “Renaissance”.
For several years, completely voluntary Ervina Halili has continued efforts at the rebirth of “Renaissance”. It has collected materials documenting an important part of intellectual resistance in Kosovo, served as mediating among the institutions for storing the archive, has stopped the annihilation of many materials, and aims to create a dignified space for the exposure and preservation of the newspaper archive and the first publishing house in Kosovo “Renaissance”.
During the award-sharing ceremony, Taulant Hoxha, executive director of the KCSF, has stressed that Ervina has worked to preserve the intellectual and collective memory of the social company “Renaissance”.
The hare is especially dangerous when it comes to collective identity, because it takes away the foundation on which we are built, good or bad, and especially clouds our future in which direction we want to go as society. This Errina initiative helps unscramble the foundation of our society and to show that not everything started in 1999 or 2008, but it has far deeper roots”, Hoxha added.
The award-sharing ceremony was broadcast on KCSF social networks and on Kohavision television, along with a short documentary carried out by the KCSF, which shows Ervina Halil's journey towards realising this cause.
This traditional price is already intended to assess the contributions of individuals, unregistered initiatives and non-governmental organisations in various areas, which are the result of community mobilization and the commitment of citizens, intellectual courage or significant achievements, and which have contributed to the democratisation of Kosovo society through their work and dedication.
The award for Democracy is part of the ENJA Kosovo programme, this KCSF programme for supporting civil society co-financed by the Swiss Development and Co-operation Agency, Sweden and Luxembourg's Grand Duke Government.
