Former British diplomat: Everything leads to Kosovo joining Albania

Timothy Less, a former British diplomat in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has declared that “Albanians (in Kosovo) are concerned about the safety of their territory and do not want to give them an autonomous area of Serbs when they are not sure they will be able to keep the rest”.

“In the absence of any recognition chance from Serbia, the only real possibility for Kosovo to end its unclear situation is joining Albania. The majority of Kosovo Albanians want that, as Kosovo is an artificial creature, a country that lacks the nation”, Danas newspaper quoted Les as saying.

As the project leader “assessed The Centre for Geopolitical and Strategic Research at Cambridge University, in long term, a large Albania is “almost inevitable”.

He said he does not see any immediate prospects for Kosovo or Albania to push this goal beyond the rhetorical level “due to international veto and back-to-day symbolic gestures”.

“In reality, I suppose they will expect, as others in the region expect, a change of geopolitical circumstances and the coming of a time when great powers will agree to a wide reshuffle of the Balkans”, Les said.
