That's how State Department spokesman Ned Price announced when asked if it's possible that Blinken welcomes a meeting in Washington before September 1st.
“If we see fit that the Secretary's commitment over the phone or personally is necessary to achieve something like this on the finish line, Secretary Blinken does not hesitate to pick up the phone and make those conversations”.
Price added that they are carefully conveying the talks and that they support them, noting that mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia should be the focus of the final outcome.
We're engaged in this. We have been deeply engaged as observers in the EU-brokered dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. Like I said last week, we believe the talks are continuing. We're looking first. We are doing this in partnership with the EU and are encouraging both sides to use dialogue effectively. It's a dialogue that we're very supportive of and we think it's up to both sides to take advantage of this full opportunity to advance their discussions on normalising relations, focusing on mutual recognition”.
He has said that to prove this support for the dialogue, the US has sent Emissar Escobar to Brussels and confirmed that he will come to Pristina and will then go to Belgrade.
He travelled, of course, to Brussels last week and will soon travel to Pristina and Belgrade to continue our support for dialogue”.
Escobar and Lajcak are expected today to arrive in Pristina, and after the visit here they will continue for Belgrade.
