Energy prices in the stock exchange have reached the highest levels of this year, grasping an average value of 500 euros for megawatts hours and over 600 euros in the period of demand.
ECS has been forced to annul the procedure for buying electricity over the past week twice due to expensive prices.
The corporation managed to buy 7.6m euros of electricity for the two weekend days of 20 August and 21 August at a 488-euro price for megawatts hours, but cancelled its demand to receive a 47,600-megawatt amount of hours for the last 10 days of the month.
That amount would cost KESh a 23m-euro bill.
For the summer months alone, costs for energy import amounted to 150m euros, while hydric reserves are halved.
Currently, in the Fierza basin, the amount of energy it can produce is 678 megawatt hours, enough for 40 days of electricity.
