Only minutes had passed when the VB518 was launched from Guadalajara International Airport and headed to Los Angeles International Airport when Airbus A320's second engine caught fire.
A short video posted on social networks shows flames and sparks coming from the right engine, the Daily Mail writes.
Some of the passengers said that the engine had exploded about 10 minutes after the flight, while others were panicking and shouting, according to KABC.
The pilot managed to return Guadalcanal International Airport after conducting an emergency discount at 10:45 local time.
