The shooting occurred today on a cattle farm in Bogie in Queensland, authorities said.
Queensland police have surrounded the area around the property while searching for the author/author.
The seriously injured person, a man, had travelled multiple miles “to raise the alarm, the officers said.
He had received a gunshot wound in his belly and was taken to hospital in Mackay City to undergo emergency surgery.
We are now in a very early phase of investigation”, Supt Tom Armit told the media.
We don't know who's responsible”
The victims have not been identified, but are believed to be relatives of the injured, Supt Armit said.
Bogie c.00 km (745 miles) north of Brisbane is home to about 200 people.
Australia has some of the fiercest weapons laws in the world, introduced after a single gunman killed 35 people in Port Arthur, Tasmania, in 1996.
Since then, there have been only three massive shots.
Sopt Armit described Thursday's shooting as a extremely rare “event”. /Abcnews.al/
