Energy Regulatory Office board chief Ymer Fejzullahu said implementation of the energy agreement in the north will not be easy. After the license of “Electricity”, citizens in the north, unlike the rest of the country, will be able to choose the power supplier as well.

Fejzullahu says implementing this agreement would have positive effects. According to him, in addition to paying for services, two interconective lines between Serbia and Kosovo would be opened that would be translated into more inflows for COST, but would also reduce the demand for energy in the north, which was markedly increased in the last year as a result of the cryptova peace production.

The ZRRE carried out its obligation under Brussels' agreement to license “Electricity”, but Fyzullahu says the effects of this agreement will be seen after payment billing begins.

This agreement has so far not been implemented, as you know this agreement was reached in 2013 is a conclusion of 2015, and it has been reached in 2015, which is the process of implementing this agreement so far, but we haven't had concrete results, as you know last week we've issued the license for Electricity, based on the app that they requested in 2020, but we haven't yet seen concrete steps of implementation with consumers, you know there have been small steps in the implementation of this agreement, but the implementation of this agreement, but the implementation or the use of the consumer has not yet started on the F20x).

With the licensing of “Electricity”, citizens in the north are already able to choose power suppliers between the Serbian company and KESCO. But who, according to him, puts an end to discrimination over payments between that area and other areas of the country.

“Citizens have the opportunity regardless of whether in the north, as in the south, as in any Kosovo city to supply regulated tariffs, which the regulator defines, except for these four municipalities in the northern part of Kosovo. For reasons that are already very well known, implementation in those areas has been difficult, such as transmission network tariffs, implementation of distribution network fees, but even retail fees in this case on universal suppliers in this case. From now on we hope that these fees will be implemented even in those municipalities we are discussing, so consumers will not have discrimination in relation to this part or that part, those municipalities or those Kosovo municipalities. It is important to stress for those four municipalities that another supplier has been licensed, which is in line with the Brussels Agreement, which has the right to choose to supply those citizens of that section through the fees of this supplier. They have the option of choice, but not obligation, all consumers who want to be supplied with tariffs that this supplier” has said Fyzullah for the KP.

The head of the ZERE board has said that the company “Eleksever” has the right to buy energy anywhere, even in Serbia, depending on the cheaper price.

“They are forced to find the cheapest energy in the market, if they find it cheaper on the market, then they'll buy that energy that's cheaper, and therefore the regulator has the impossible not just electricity, but anyone who wants to force where to buy electricity. Each supplier buys energy where he finds it cheaper, said Fejzullahu.

Feyzullahu expects the two inter-concernate transmission lines between Kosovo and Serbia, which would mean more revenues for COSTT, to be unblocked.

Serbia has actually blocked the inter-consective transmission lines between Kosovo and Serbia, we, after implementing the agreements, hope that even unlocking these two lines will enable us to have additional access to the aloation or sale of the capacities on the market of these two lines, in addition to the benefits of having consumers start paying off electricity bills, we will also have an additional benefit since we will have access to the power supply in this case in KO The STT will ensure additional access to the capacities of the two inter-conception lines between Serbia and Kosovo”, he said.

The head of the ZER board says that with energy billing in the north, it is expected to lower energy demand, which, according to him, had increased by 30% in recent years, where cryptovaluta is also illegally produced.

And we've had over 30% of the demand in that area in the last three years, hopefully that demand will start to be reduced immediately maybe not necessarily back where it used to be, but at least get closer to the numbers that have been earlier, about 200-20ga during the annual period, we hope that in the moment that energy billing begins in that area this demand will be reduced, maybe not 30% but half of this percentage is going to be the reduction of consumption in that area, especially we hope that the saltmaking businesses stop as fast as the moment begins to identify them, and that they don't have economic benefits that the moment they'll be able to produce energy.

Winter is forecast to be difficult with regard to electricity supply. At this time of year Kosovo needs energy imports to meet citizens' demands.

Feyzullahu, who highlights the rise in energy prices in international markets, appeals to citizens to avoid energy heating.

The next “Dyr you know that not only Kosovo but Germany is concerned that there is an opportunity to have trouble within the international energy security markets, but Kosovo luckily in most cases except the winter period is an exporter of electricity, but in the winter period we will make maximum efforts that, even the amount of energy that is necessary to import so that we have 24h power supply for our consumers, but we have to note that the prices are higher than we anticipated, and that the world markets are asking for consumers to be able to afford the most energy possible electricity, because the energy is actually under way of keeping it, because it's not the energy, it's done.

Last winter, Kosovo went into an extraordinary energy situation, while specific areas remained without electricity supplies for days. As of February, new energy tariffs, more expensive, have been inaugurated
