The Kosovo Assembly has not approved the bill to regulate the price of medical products proposed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo. 19 MPs have voted for, 42 against, and two have abstained, among them also the head of the Parliament, Glauk Konjufca.
The reasoning of MPs from the parliamentary majority has been that such a bill, but prepared by the Kosovo government, will come to the Assembly in the fall of this year.
While the opposition has demanded that such an initiative be approved, according to them it would stop abuses in the drug market.
The government in the legislative plan had the drug bill last year, but this government hasn't come into legislative plan for 2021, provided a total of 186 bills that have not even been implemented. So I expect from you today reflections, from colleagues, beyond the political clothing to give the green light to this bill that we have initiated that regulates the prices of drugs. Such a bill is very necessary in the face of the economic situation in the country, which is more than burdened by inflation, by economic downturn, from the extraordinary increase in prices”, PDK deputy Florete Zejundu said, until she requested approval of this initiative.
According to the PDK, this law would also help family economies cope with price hikes.
The plenary session will continue at 1500m with the other points of the agenda.
