Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is staying in Serbia for official visit.
In Belgrade, he has been waiting for a meeting by Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq, who, according to Serbian media, has assured that Spain supports Serbia when it comes to Kosovo.
“We support Serbia when it comes to Kosovo. Spain was and will always be with Serbia in defense of this 48x1> principle, Sanchez has said at a joint conference with Vuciq, the Express broadcasts.
According to Serbian media, Sanchez has said relations between Spain and Serbia are excellent, with the aim of trading to reach other levels.
He has stressed that in October, a business forum of Spanish and Serbian companies will be organised in Belgrade, and that the governments of the two countries are working for a bilateral economic agreement.
President Vuciq, on the other hand, has said Spain is Serbia's sincere friend, as well as one of the biggest friends in the world.
As Vuciq knows when he likes his wife, so has Sanchez.
Dear friend, everyone loves you in this country, you won't find a single person who doesn't think so”, Vuciq was quoted by the media in Belgrade.
According to Vuciq, Spain has supported Serbia's EU integration bid “without finding hair on eggs”.
Spain is one of five European Union member states that does not recognise Kosovo's independence. Despite diplomatic efforts over the years, Spain has not wavered from its stance on the Kosovo issue.
