Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, described the capture of Moscow's Luhansk region as the “a day of liberation to celebrate both on Earth and in space”, reports Al Jazeera.
The agency posted photos of cosmonauts Oleg Artemeyev, Denis Matveev and Sergei Korsakov smiling as they carried the flags of representatives of Russia in eastern Ukraine, the self-declared People's Republic of Luhansk and the Donetsk People's Republic.
This is a long-awaited day that residents of occupied areas of the Luhansk region had waited for eight years,” wrote Roscosmos on the telegram message application.
