The chief of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Abelard Tahiri, has handed over to the Constitutional Court on Friday, the law for the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK), which was adopted in the Assembly days earlier.

Tahiri has said that this law seriously violates the independence of the judiciary and extends the influence of politics in the KKP and that it falls apart with six provisions of the Constitution.

We never had such a clear tendency to capture an entire prosecutorial system as has happened to the recent adoption of the law by the majority led by Vetevendosje. This law conflicts with six articles of the Constitution. We fully believe that the arguments he has brought about The PDK, in the draft that we have handed in to our complaint, considers that it is a sufficient basis to bring such a law against the Constitution”, Tahiri has said.

According to Tahiri, two readings have also not been taken into account in general as well as recommendations from the Venice Commission.

What completely degrades the KKP is the presence of policy people. You know it has already changed the composition of the Council by new law, decision making is directly dependent on the presence of policy people sent through the Parliament. It has already completely degraded, now even one official who has performed some 7-8 years of work as an official could become a member of the KKP. The KPK's decision-making is directly dependent on politics, so the KKP with new laws cannot have any quorum or decision-making in choosing leaders of high positions, without the participation of policy people who send the majority -- the Parliament” -- has declared Tahiri.
