Kosovo should not compromise in its report with Serbia on reaching the final agreement between the two countries.
Opposition positions say the only compromise that is mutual recognition with final agreements.
The head of the Vetevendosje Movement Parliamentary Group, Mimoza Kusari-Lila for Online Economics, has said that in Kosovo no compromise or giving anything to Serbia because that idea has led to extremely dangerous projects such as the territorial exchange has occurred.
She adds that any agreement with Serbia should be based on the values and principles EU states have.
“As far as the agreement with Serbia is concerned, we have all understood so far that any compromise in Kosovo cannot be spoken of in the sense of giving something away for Serbia because that idea has led to very dangerous applications or designs, as it did three years ago with territorial exchange as one of the ideas that could lead the Balkans into another war. The important thing is to have reflection on what happened 23 years that it still seems to be losing focus on the aggressor and who was the victim. And the other thing in relation to the agreement is based on the values and principles that EU states have. We have had demands or there have been discussions which might even challenge the constitutional reality in Kosovo and of course all are unacceptable”.
According to her, clear that Serbia is not interested in stability in the region, therefore Kosovo should not remain hostage to this, but that it is necessary to function literally and development.
She hopes Serbia's future reflection will improve relations between the two countries.
“A stabilisation of the region means a mutual recognition of Kosovo and Serbia and a confrontation with the past. That without a literal encounter with the past, we cannot speak of the secure future. Serbia always creates problems. With this approach from Serbia and this approach that they have today in relation to their positioning alongside Russia in the aggression it has made to Ukraine is shown to be far from the true European values, and of course, double standards remain the principal principle of Serbian policy”.
“under those circumstances Kosovo cannot remain hostage to a Serbia which does not want to clarify the position, but must work to have our jobs carried out inside so that of course we can have a literal state function, the constitutional order of overall development indiscriminately. And of course if in the future there is reflection on Serbia's part to achieve the normality of the two countries with mutual recognition”, Kusari-Lila said.
While Democratic Party of Kosovo deputy (PDK), Hajdar Beqa said the latest compromise Kosovo has had for declaring independence has been Ahtisaari's package
Beqa added that it is up to the current government to take dialogue more seriously and not deal with technical issues.
The only compromise that remains to take place between Kosovo and Serbia is mutual recognition and final agreement. The timing of other compromises is over. Kosovo has had the biggest compromise it has made for its declaration of independence was Ahtisaari's package when we issued in some form to reach independence and I think it is the last compromise. Now it is up to the current government to get serious dialogue and not to deal with technical issues with part of the port agreement going on with the final accord”.
I see that the current government has no vision, strategy or concept of delegate. And I think that Kosovo's only position should be the agreement for mutual recognition between the two countries. Kosovo must positions for final agreements with mutual recognition and do not have time to lose under technical agreements”, he said.
