Washington and other allies condemned Russia's attack prior to the meeting before Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov faced what US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called a string of criticism during closed-door talks.
Whatever we've heard today is a powerful chorus around the world... towards the need to complete the” aggression, Blinken said from the meeting on Bali Island.
Blinken and Lavrov had joined colleagues for day-long talks at their first meeting since the outbreak of the war, with the host who said the conflict must be concluded through negotiations.
But Lavrov left the morning session as German counterpart Annalena Baerbock criticised Moscow for her invasion, diplomats said.
Backock criticised Moscow for blocking dialogue with international partners after Lavrov left during her speech.
Lavrov told reporters outside the Mulia Hotel: “International partners are trying to leave talks on global economic issues. As they spoke, they were released in fierce criticism against Russia”, Lavrov said. /Periscopi/
