Maksim Potyomin, 41-year-old, a fighter pilot with a lieutenant colonel-grader, died when his convoy was hit by the artillery of accurate missiles directed at Donnetsk on July 8th.
The same attack is thought to have killed Colonel Anatoly Stasyukevich, 54-year-old, also a combat pilot.
The death of officers was known earlier, but the fact that they were killed by HIMARS was discovered only over the weekend by Potyomin's father, Alexey.
It is believed that the attack was carried out with the help of Western intelligence.
Potyomin, chairman of the Regional Federation of Volgograd Parachusism, told local media: “My son's car was hit by a HIMARS” rocket.
