EU Emisar for Kurti: Came with strong attitudes, took time to sit at the table

The European Union's Special Emisar for Kosovo Dialogue, Serbia Miroslav Lajcak, has said Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq are his legitimate partners in the issue of dialogue between two states. Lajcak, speaking in an interview for RTK, has said Kurt had come with attitudes [...]
Lajcak, speaking in an interview for RTK, has said Kurti had come with strong stances for dialogue and, according to him, has taken time to reach the landing at the negotiating table.
The “Kurti came with strong stances for a dialogue and it took time to reach a point to believe we could have productive meetings, but the importance of dialogue has not been questioned”, he said.
Lajcak suggested that time represents a very favourable political calendar for dialogue, as there are no planned elections in both Kosovo and Serbia.
But it has said that time should be exploited by the beginning of 2024 when Europe enters the election, just as the United States does.
We have the window of opportunity right now until the beginning of 2024. Because in May 2024 there will be European elections and there will be presidential elections in the US that year”, he said.
He, with diplomatic language, has said that after these elections no one knows what can happen, seeking focus on the question of dialogue.
What happens after these elections nobody knows, so we really need to focus, use these 20 months or 18 months. The leaders are aware of this and that's why we want them to meet regularly”, Lajcak said.
