The drill seeks to comfort the Ukrainian soldier: I was outside of Kosovo at war, I did the right thing like you

Kosovo diplomacy chief Donika Grovalla Schwarz has comforted the head of the Ukrainian peacekeeping forces in Kosovo, Ivan Nastenko, who publicly acknowledged that because of the task he has here, he feels ashamed that he is not found alongside fellow fighters on the front line in Ukraine. To ease military frustration, the deputy prime minister was summoned to his experience as exile in Germany.
I know that feeling very well. Standing in Germany, 2,000km away from here but working every day to collect aid for Kosovo was very important, so now I know it was the right thing to do. But then I felt very bad”, she told Nastenko after the end of the ceremony, where the EULEX mission launched 12 vehicles in aid to the country attacked by Russia.
She reminded the officer of the importance of his duties in Kosovo.
Don't feel ashamed because if they needed you there, they'd call you. You're not deserting, you're here because it's where you should be”, she said.
In fact, the current task was described as very important to the Ukrainian himself during the ceremony, where he expressed his concern.
I have mixed feelings today. On one side, I feel very ashamed, how my co-militarys are sacrificing their lives for Ukraine, but on the other side I'm really proud to be serving among international colleagues and partners who at any time are willing to help, which sends a clear message to the whole world that Ukraine is not alone”, said Nastenko.
Ukraine has 40 soldiers in Kosovo, under the NATO mission accounting for 3,770 soldiers from 28 member states and partners.
