Montenegro's president, Milo Djukanovic, estimates that until the union of the minority government, led by Dritan Abazovic, the preliminary one at the helm with Zdravko Krivokapicin was the worst in this country's history.
However, the head of Montenegrin state considers that with some of the decisions Abaazovic has recently made, his government will be even worse.
In an interview for the portal from Vojvodina “Autonomija” on Wednesday, Djukanovic said that whoever has the right to overthrow his government has done so.
Abazovic's “movements will be tried by voters, courts and history”, he said.
His associate particularly has to do with the signing of the Constitutional Agreement with the Serbian Orthodox Church. Abazovic said this is a “step towards internal reconciliation in Montenegro”, but Djukanovic and his party call it treason.
Djukanovic has said Abazovic is working according to Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq's orders to undermine the possibility of this country becoming an EU member by 2025.
“Since the moment of assuming the prime minister's office, Abazovqi far more effectively than his predecessor, continued to make precise surgical movements drafted in the Serbian president's cabinet, Aleksandar Vuciq, all with the aim of presenting Montenegro as politically and economically unstable and an unreliable NATO member”, Djukanovic said.
In fact, with the support of his party's deputies, DPS, Abazovic also managed to make the minority government. The DPS has 29 deputies from 81 the size of Montenegro's Assembly.
Insist that he was not wrong when he trusted the leader of the movement U n RA, who has only four deputies, to form Government.
He declined to comment on the completion of the portal “Autonomija” that Abazovici “is working more for Belgrade's interests than Podgorica's”.
I would not join the chorus of assumptions. Instead, I will say something I am absolutely sure of: the government has changed European priorities that should be a motivating platform for homogenising human and political resources. It has put the relationship between the state and the Serbian Orthodox Church in first place, which as a theme has been shown indefinitely that it has deepened social divisions. This is not in Montenegro's interest”, Djukanovic has added.
What, though, does the Montenegrin government's agreement with the Serbian Orthodox Church contain?
Under what has been signed, it obliges the Montenegrin government to recognise diplomatic immunity or extraterritorial rights of Serb Orthodox Church institutions in the country, which excludes them from jurisdiction. The government is also obliged to register all Orthodox churches in the country under the jurisdiction of the Serbian Orthodox Church and launch the payment process for all buildings confiscated by the communist regime after World War II. The agreement also stipulates that the Serbian Church does not need to get permission from the government to move cultural heritage objects that are registered under its ownership.
