Decani historians clash with monastery leaders

The head of the Decani Monastery knows very well that this religious temple has continued since the Ottoman Empire has preserved the Demukaj family from Decani, and elsewhere other Albanians. We have a professional obligation to expose the anti-Albanian policy of the monastery's leader, who is constantly acting as a victim.

The head of the Decani Monastery, in relation to Kosovo institutions, uses double standards. He speaks always and consistently against the citizenship of Kosovo and in his spoken and written language, he uses the term -- “Kosovo and Metohia” -- thus does not refer to the constitutional name of Kosovo, the Republic of Kosovo.

Therefore, Janjic, when he faces one thing, is immediately called in Kosovo institutions, and as such he does not recognise them. So he must reflect, accept Kosovo citizenship and not lobby against it. Further in the communiqué, it points out that, as the head of the Decani Monastery knows, but also the vast local and international opinion in Kosovo and abroad, the Monastery and its assets, are the safest countries in our Republic, as NATO forces make its security of the KFOR mission.

We remember the head of the monastery, that the Decani Monastery enjoys extraordinary privileges, privileges that the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo have recognised, the state Igumen Janjic does not recognise. We have consistently highlighted and defended with facts that properties and companies “Apico” and “iliria” in Decan, from the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, have given the monasteries by calling on the time laws of the violent measures of Milosevic's time -- 1993 and 1997 -- and that this constitutional decision is contrary to Article 113, paragraph 7 of the Constitutional Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.

We say with full conviction of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, with its act of judgment in May 2016, the iïa has denied an elementary right to the citizens of Decani, their companies and employees, of course the Decani Monastery.

No one in Kosovo has denied the Decani Monastery his rights, but the behavior of the head of this temple has led him to be repeatedly victimised. The Decani Monastery is not endangered by anyone except the politics of its leader, Igumenit Janjic.

We call for mutual peace and harmony. The monastery and the deans have lived in harmony for centuries, and they must continue to live. The monastery remains a valuable object for us and our culture.
