In an interview for the Montenegrin media, Vijesti stressed that even though the EU Summit did not bring results for membership negotiations between the two countries, the EU has been, is, and will continue to be committed to improving the Western Balkans' membership process in the large EU family.
European “Block will continue its strong political, technical and financial support for all six countries in the region, so as to help them advance in key political, institutional, social and economic reforms necessary for progress on the road to the EU. Progress in reform priorities should lead to closer integration of the Western Balkans with the European Union, work on accelerated integration and gradual accession to individual policies, EU programmes and market”, Borrell told Vijesti.
Just days ago, he and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken came out with a common stance regarding the membership of Albania and Northern Macedonia, saying “guided by common values and EU standards, the two countries are ready to take the next step towards accession.
