British Ambassador to Tirana Alastair King-Smith in an interview for Tv Klan It explains that this is only the first step in a series to be taken to punish corruption and crime.
You have all seen that we have taken measures and sanctions against Russia in a broad area of problems that are globally related to respect for human rights and corruption. But this is specific for the Western Balkans, it's for the whole region, as there are problems in the links between crime and politics. We need to break these ties. What we'll do is use this package of measures. This is just the first step of some action to be taken. We have various tools, such as anti-corruption sanctions, financial sanctions and the ban on migration”.
Ambassador King-Smith confirms the sanctions company this week for several Albanians.
“This week we have also taken certain actions regarding the immigration issue for some Albanian persons who are related to the crime and corruption world”.
But unlike the U.S. State Department, which makes public the names of the people for whom the sanctions are imposed, announcing them as non grata, the United Kingdom has decided not to do so.
The United Kingdom will not publish the names of persons, or the details of these actions we will take for legal reasons”.
