Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) announced that new types of African pig fever have been confirmed. According to the Veterinary Medicine Faculty's Veterinary Institute, the disease has been registered in the village of Moshtica, of Makedonska Kamenica, on a farm that guards pigs.
AUV has already informed swine growers of the new case.
After allegedly denouncing the disease on the farm, official control was conducted by AUV's inspection services, and following laboratory testing of samples taken from the two dead pigs from the Veterinary Medicine Faculty, the presence of the disease was confirmed. All necessary measures for the extermination of the virus have been implemented on the farm, and epidemiological investigation is under way for the definition of trigger”, AUV director Nikolce Babovski said.
The AUV gave the new decision, with which it ordered the company of controlling measures and safeguard clauses for rooting and controlling the disease in the high-risk area (all municipalities on the border line with the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Serbia), in the area of the infected region (i.e. 20km away from primary and entire territory of the Republic of Northern Macedonia.
“For presenting the new case of African plague to AUV pigs officially announced to the World Animal Health Protection Organisation and the European Commission”, Babovski stressed.
