Croatia's former president, Stipe Mesic, has declared that some people in Serbia live in illusion because Serbia is not powerful to pose a threat to the region, despite its weapons from Russia and China. The renowned Croatian politician, who speaks more openly and more realistically about Serbia, during an interview with KosovoPress, has disclosed why Serbia continues to be the only country in Europe that has not imposed sanctions on Russia.
Serbia can no longer be a threat. It is clear that some people in Serbia live in illusion that they are the strongest in these spaces and that they can dictate politics. They can't detect anything... Serbia is highly dependent on Russia, it is about its economic interest, so it is not declared against Russia”, Mesic has said.
The man who passed all top public posts in Croatia, but also in the former Yugoslavia, has suggested that the EU should speed up procedures for the integration of Kosovo and other Western Balkan states into Europe.
Speaking of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Mesic sees US involvement in the process necessary. He cited the experience of the processes of Croatia and Bosnia, with the case being cased, said Europe without America is not strong to solve problems and bring true peace.
I think the European Union, if it wants to be principled, should speed up entry into the European integrations of Kosovo and other Western Balkan states... It was seen during the war in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina that Europe had no power to do anything in order to come to true peace. Europe today has no leaders, Europe is shorter in politics in relation to America. Therefore, America must be engaged, as committed to peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as will Kosovo”, Mesic stressed.
Croatian lawyer and politician Stjepan (Sipe) Mesic was the last president of Yugoslavia (1991). He then served as Croatia's prime minister, while later Croatian Parliament Speaker (1992 é 1994). Finally, he was for two five-year term president of Croatia from 2000 to 2010.
