Prime Minister Kurti has responded to Prime Minister Kovachevski's invitation with a letter that you can read next:
The following is Prime Minister Kurti's response:
Dear Prime Minister,
Thank you very much for inviting May 23, 2022.
The Republic of Kosovo welcomes regional co-operation based on the principles of equality and with citizens as final beneficiaries.
To that end, we are actively engaged in the Berlin Process, which covers many regional initiatives, including the Joint Regional Market (CRM), which was approved by the six Western Balkan countries at the 2020 Sofia summit and was fully approved and supported by the European Union.
Both our countries share common values and shared aspirations to join the European Union. We also share a common belief in freedom, democracy, justice and respect for human rights and citizens, free media and freedom of thought and a political environment where the opposition does not keep silent, but flourishes and can win in the upcoming elections.
That's why we've undertaken reforms that fight corruption, promote rule of law, advance our economies and increase opportunities for all. And why both of our countries regularly line up with EU foreign policy, including the opposition to Ukraine's unprotested and unwarranted invasion of Russia, where we quickly condemned and imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation, despite economic difficulties.
After meeting several times, I strongly believe these are the values we want to pursue in our region to ensure peace and long-term prosperity.
Dear Prime Minister,
I believe these goals are best achieved in the Common Regional Market, where we operate with EU regulations and EU values and where we work to ensure the proper treatment mechanisms that benefit all our citizens equally. As you know, under the Berlin Process, Serbia requires uneven treatment for Kosovo citizens and blocks any agreement within the Joint Regional Market that enables regional co-operation based on the principles of equality.
Given the common values between our two countries, it is in our interest to work together in preventing Serbia from promoting its Russian and Chinese interest in our region, constantly denying Kosovo's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and blocking equal opportunities for Kosovo citizens.
Honestly,
Albin Kurti
Kosovo Republic Prime Minister
