He at the media conference following the government's meeting has been asked whether he will visit them in Special, the same as his Albanian counterpart, Edi Rama, did.
Kurti said KLA leaders, whom he calls the KLA “prominent fighters, are being held at The Hague in a prolonged detention.
I have considered the most important stage in which we go, for the Special Court, which is not sustainable for transparency, contact, communicate, discuss with lawyers of KLA fighters in The Hague and are being held in prolonged custody. Maybe I can visit them, but I'm telling you what's most important to me as prime minister. And this is communication and discussion with defence lawyers who have their own separate clients who are paid a lot from the Republic of Kosovo, and on the other hand that all defendants are considered together, by the Prosecutor for Evil, even on the part of the Republic of Kosovo, whom they recognise as prominent KLA-14x1> fighters, the government said.
On the other hand, he said lawyers must prepare their defence well in the form of not turning against each other.
“Avokat has his client priority individually, but it's the Republic of Kosovo, the Government and I as the Prime Minister who understand that it's going to be good for those in extended custody, when it gets better for all of them. Everyone will be fine when it's good for them all. It is important that the defense of the defendants not go to harm to each other. It's not just individuals there. You know that since the summer of 2020, I have presented my criticism and opposition to what has been called the Joint Criminal Enterprise. Imagine, starting in March 1998, when the NLA Age happened. I have made other criticisms, and I want to have the general approach of the state and my government for what is common interest”, Kurti said at the media conference.
