In the LDK-led government, at the meeting at the White House in Washington on September 4, 2020, we accepted the US request that Kosovo become part of the regional initiative “Balkani opened” after we received their race than
(1) Our participation in this initiative will be entirely equal and that
(2) This regional initiative, and any other initiative, succeeds only when all countries participate.
These two principles, as well as the fact that this initiative is only for economic cooperation, were highlighted yesterday in Ohrid very clearly by American officials.
In practical terms, the first principle implies that Serbia is forced to recognise Kosovo's state subjectivity in regional relations in any respect like any other country, as participation of the parties is on fully equal grounds. Meanwhile, the second principle implies that Serbia cannot dominate the regional market when all countries in the region participate in this initiative.
However, any regional initiative is temporary, as our orientation is EU integration. Kosovo must co-ordinate its foreign policy with its strategic partner, the United States of America, as well as with the European Union.
Kosovo can become part of the regional initiative “Balkan opened” only in co-ordination and with US competitions.
