European Integrations Director Taulant Kryeziu has said in T7 that if France comes out on the Kosovo side of visa liberalisation, then there may be something by the end of the year.
Kryeziu says he has not expected the decision today and adds that the summit has not been collected for visas. He adds that with the support of larger states in the EU, then it would be easier. He also said liberalisation has not had to be linked to other processes like dialogue.
If France is pushing this process forward, there may be something by the end of the year. Germany is seen as having an attitude, even the Netherlands has moved”, he said.
In the sense of political power. I have to vote 55% of member states that represent 65% of the population. So it doesn't have to be unanimous, but it takes a double majority. With France as a great country would be safer. It's easy with him. I think there might be good news, decision-making within this year. Now whether it will be October, November or peak there will be at the holidays, we can't say”, Kryeziu added.
He said that the process from where we are today could last between 7 and 9 months if they receive the last two states that have gained visa liberalisation for reference.
If we take Georgia and Ukraine reference, 7-9 months from where we are today”, he concluded.
