Hague urged Thaci's release in Pristina, or country to offer guarantees

The defence of former President Hashim Thaci has handed over to the judge of the preliminary procedure, Nicolas Guillou of the Special Court, even the third request for the release of the former political head of the Kosovo Liberation Army in domestic custody or even the release of a third state that has provided guarantees, writes the newspaper Express. In this request Thaci's lawyer, [...]
Thaci's lawyer, Gregory W. Kehoe, has said that continuing custody at The Hague also conflicts with human freedoms and rights.
The defence of the former president, as he has been prompted by the recent decision to refuse Thaci's home prison release as a result of his distrust in the Kosovo Police, has asked the judge of the preliminary procedure to call a hearing and also order presence in this session of the Kosovo Police Director, head of the Kosovo Republic's Pre-prisonment Unit, and representatives of the state governments whose names are discussed in the document published on the Special Chambers website.
They have also sought Hashim Thaci's immediate provisional release in conditions considered necessary and appropriate, up to 30 days before the trial begins.
Meanwhile, the prosecution has said that neither Thaci's transfer to domestic arrest in Pristina nor his release to third places “would reduce the risk of escape, obstruction of court, witness harassment or even repeat crime”.
