Food and fair nutrition security are basic preconditions for health and well-being of a country's population and must be integrated into all policies, not only those in health, but also in the economy, agriculture, tourism and trade of one country.
On December 20, 2018, the secretary - general of the United Nations approved Resolution 73/250 for the World Food Safety Day appointment. So starting in 2019, June 7th will be a day that will be marked by activities that highlight the benefits of safe food, but also the concessions and eventual shortcomings in the safe food chain.
Safe food is of vital importance for promoting health and eliminating hunger . the Agency's two main goals for 2030.
Without security, there cannot be enough safe food. In this world where the food chain becomes increasingly complex, any negative incident in food security can have negative global effects on human health, trade, and economics.
Diseases related to unsafe food are usually caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or chemicals that we bring into the organism through food or contaminated water.
600 million people, or 1 out of 10 people in the world, get sick as a result of the consumption of contaminated food, and about 440,000 die annually. In this group, children up to five years of age share with 40 %s in the burden of diseases derived from unsafe food, or 125,000 cases of death a year.
This year's World Food Safety Day theme is safer food, better health.
