Bosnia gets positive signals: Candidate country status in October or December

The European Union is ready to grant Bosnia and Herzegovina candidate status and, to that end, calls on the Commission (European) to report without delay to the EU Council on the implementation of 14 key priorities defined in the opinion.
Diplomatic sources in Brussels have confirmed that the Czech Presidency will be taken with Sarajevo's candidacy, which will have a mandate from July 1st to December 31st of this year. These sources also confirmed that they expect a relatively swift response from the Commission, with a decision expected at the October regular summit or at the December meeting of heads of states and governments.
Ahead of the summit, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob announced it would require that at the summit's conclusions, EU leaders determine the time frame when Bosnia will receive candidate status.
