The BBC writes that Zelensky made the invitation during a telephone conversation with the German president.
The Ukrainian president said that during the call he discussed and clarified with his counterpart past disputes between the two countries. Steinmeier, meanwhile, expressed his “solidarity, respect and support” for Ukraine.
The invitation comes three weeks after Steinmeier was rejected by Kiev because of Germany's close economic ties with Russia. German president's scheduled visit to Ukrainian capital was cancelled at last minute
