Mykola Kulichenko, from the village of Vyshneve, near the outskirts of Kiev, had been thrown into a grave on March 18th along with his older brother, with Vladimir Putin's forces believing he was dead.
He and his two brothers had been at home when the alarm fell on their home, with invading forces irritated when they saw that Mykola's brother Eugene had served in the Ukrainian army and that their grandfather's war medals were exposed.
This was the reason for torture and execution”, Mykola told reporters.
The three brothers were shot dead, where two of them died in the country. Their sister, Iryna, had managed to escape because during this time she had been home to her neighbor.
“Slam! And the blood spread into my body”, he tells about the moment the bullet hit his face after the brothers were sent to an old carpenter for execution.
The bullet entered his right cheek before going out through his ear.
He went on to confess how he had escaped from the pit where his brother Dima's lifeless body was dumped, pointing out: “I went out and he fell in my”.
The brothers were kept in the carpenter's office for three days before they were brought out for execution.
Eugene was the first to be shot and thrown into the pit by the Russians. After him, Duma was not immediately thrown into the buried resting place.
And then they shot me, pushed me to the grave, and I fell down and my older brother was dropped on me”, he relates.
Wonderfully, he survived. Mykola came out of the pit and walked toward the nearest village.
He was helped by an elderly woman named Valentine, who says: “I saw he was injured, he was scratched and all covered in mud. I invited him to his house to clean up and eat breakfast, and I gave him some food to take with him”.
We always embrace whenever we meet”, Mykola says about Valentina.
After leaving the old woman's house, he walked 40 miles [40 km] to his village, where he was finally checked by a doctor.
Mykola had broken two ribs, but the bullet in the face had not touched any vital organ. All the wounds in his body are now healed, but he will keep his scratching forever.
