Our state's “naval protection will be strengthened by the Harpoon missile they will be used by trained Ukrainian teams”, he said on May 28th.
Minister Reznikov said these missiles would be used to support Ukrainian Neptun missiles to protect the Black Sea, including the city-port, Odessa.
Harpoon missiles are believed to be avoiding radar systems. They can be thrown off ships, submarines, planes, or even crews along the coastline.
Russia has blocked Ukrainian ports, cutting off vital grain exports and using the Black Sea fleet to carry out missile attacks on Ukrainian cities.
Reznikov said Ukraine has also accepted shipments of heavy artillery, including a modified American model of the M109 obus, which will allow the Ukrainian Army to strike targets from a distance.
Ukraine wants to accept shipments of long-range M270 rocket launchers from the US to strengthen defence to the east, where Russia is conducting an aggressive offensive and concentrated its military power on that part as it failed to take over Kiev after the start of the invasion on 24 February.
