“Shouldn't be allowed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to dictate peace in a war in which he won't win”, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, writes AFP, present Periscopi.

“Putin has already failed in its strategic goals”, the German Chancellor at the World Economic Forum in Davos said.

Russia's plan to capture all of Russia “is even farther away today than it was at the beginning of the” invasion on February 24th as Ukraine made an impressive defense.

Putin has downplayed Allied power in confronting his aggression in Ukraine, Scholz said, underlining that Moscow has also pushed Finland and Sweden to join NATO.

Our target is crystal clear- Putin should not win this war, and I am convinced that he will not win”, the German Chancellor said.

Scholz, who has talked to the Russian leader several times since the invasion of Ukraine began, said that “Putin will seriously negotiate for peace only when it realizes that he cannot break Ukraine's defence”.

And Western leaders, who have armed Ukraine and imposed serious sanctions against Russia, will continue their support for Kiev, he pledged.

It is a matter to clarify Putin that there will be no known peace. Ukraine won't accept it, just like in”, Scholz added.

However, Scholz did not directly address the criticism from Ukraine that Germany is not moving rapidly in the supply of Kiev with heavy weapons.

He only said that Germany's support for Kiev would continue to co-ordinate with the allies, so that NATO will not become a party in the conflict. /Periscopi/
