Russian media have reported President Putin's word. He told Saul Niinistö that there are currently no threats to Finland's security and that abandoning Finland's neutral status would be a mistake.
The change would harm relations between the two “countries, which for many years have been built in the spirit of good neighbourlyity and partnership co-operation, and have been mutually beneficial”.
Moscow described the conversation as “a genuine exchange of views”.
