HANDICOS has announced that disabled people face difficulties when they want to travel to Kosovo or vice versa.

According to them, Pristina airport does not own carts either at the airport or on the plane.

Here's the full announcement:

Pristina International Airport HINA Adam Jasharı, which is considered the largest in the region and wider, enabling flights for a high number of travelers, also fails to meet standards and standards for disabled persons.

The key problem, now and then, remains the absence of carts that serve to transport disabled travelers to the aircraft but also the lack of them to airport grounds. These carts would provide an easy convenience and access to even disabled persons, as everyone else does.

Such conditions meet all other airports in each country, including those in the region.

According to our information, many of Kosovo's citizens living in the diaspora -- in particular those who are cart users -- face challenges for their arrival through the airport because of or even cannot come at all.

HANDICOS, with the aim of facilitating and providing services as efficient at Pristina Airport for disabled travellers a few years ago, had provided them with a considerable number of carts, though it is not the organisation's duty. Despite our support in this regard, depressing is the fact that they are now almost useless and unfunctionable.

In this regard, we have sometimes addressed requests or clarifications, in particular their absence within the plane, but have not been considered at all.

HANDICOS invites the Ministry of Infrastructure, the competent staff of Pristina Airport, to create equal access and opportunity for all travelers, to provide carts as they have made a commitment based on the calendar of activities that connect to the 2022 declaration. Year of persons with limited skills in Kosovo.
