Opposition parliamentary parties are urgently seeking the Government to focus on dialogue with Serbia, naming the stagnation of this harmful process for the country.
They even estimate that with the reach of the final agreement -- mutual recognition -- Kosovo would also have opportunities for membership in important institutions.
Former Deputy Prime Minister, MP PDK, Enver Hoxhaj, in an interview for Online Economy says mutual recognition should be the key topic of this process.
“Dialog is a key topic, serves the country's interest, and anyone who believes that Kosovo will be a UN member state that can only be achieved through Kosovo dialogue Serbia. I am of the opinion that dialogue on technical issues should be transformed into a political dialogue and that the main topic should be the issue of mutual recognition”.
However, MP Hoxhaj said Serbia is aiming for dialogue to keep Kosovo at the status quo, which he is calling a recipe for destruction for the country.
According to him, the political situation in Europe goes to Kosovo, all to pressure Serbia in fulfilling goals that have not been met, as he says for 15 years.
The new geopolitical situation in Europe is very favourable for us to pressure Serbia and the West to pressure Serbia to achieve goals that we have not achieved in the last 15 years. We see it as urgent, as vital to reaching an agreement with Serbia. Serbia comes into dialogue every time to disagree with us, to buy out time, to keep Kosovo at the status quo. But the status quo in Kosovo is an issue, the recipe for destruction. That's why it's vital that this happen”, Hoxhaj said.
LDK MP Valentina Bunnjaku-Rejepi says dialogue for mutual recognition has turned into technical dialogue and there is no concrete step in the process.
The dialogue “that has been in the final phase for mutual recognition has turned into technical dialogue and we are not seeing any concrete steps forward to Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. With this government I have no hope that the topic of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia will be closed, because it has returned to technical dialogue and meetings are not getting high and I do not expect any development in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue”.
AAK deputy Besnik Tahiri also stressed that dialogue is unsubstantiated and current technical.
“Dialogue in the plot has lost out of the context Kosovo aims at. It's a non-racial dialogue. There is a dialogue on technical level and a dialogue that is not producing results. We demand that as soon as possible the legally binding final agreement for two countries with mutual recognition with the American leadership be reached so that this issue can be addressed. For the AAK this is important and this is our attitude. What we need to do is do our job and we need to get out of technical dialogue and focus on mutual recognition”, Tahiri said.
