MCC vice president satisfied with spring season air quality in Pristina

The vice president of the Millennium Challenge Corporation(MCC), Alicia Mandaville, during her visit to Kosovo today has seen closely implementing projects supported by this corporation even at the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo (IHMK). On her first visit to Kosovo, vice president Mandaville said she enjoyed air quality in Pristina, but according to it depends on the seasons of the year.
I've liked air quality this time. It's my first time in Pristina, so I can't make comparisons like to imagine what it was like. I'd say it's better now. I've never been before, but I can see the measurements of what they'll be like in three days' time, which is innovation, since it hasn't been before. It's great. It depends on the season of the year and the part of the day what air quality is like. We've seen rain, so it cleans up the air a little bit, but now it's likely to be monitoring what air quality” will be, she stressed.
Deputy Environment Minister Linda Cavderbash talking about the MCC-backed project and its implementation in Kosovo, in particular for air quality measures and air quality monitoring, said that through this project the doors have been opened to improve the air quality system.
We know that this has been the greatest support for Kosovo, because Kosovo's Hydrometerological Institute has not had the necessary support, so through this project we have opened the doors for a basis for improving the air quality system, but also for monitoring at the Hydromethorological Institute. There is much to be done in the field of hydrometeorology in Kosovo. The good news is that we've already done research on the Hydrometeorology Institute through another project, because the focus of this government is water protection and gathering data for rainfall and hydrology, and through various projects we're trying to obtain drinking water for all Kosovo citizens”, Chavderbasha noted.
Meanwhile, Kosovo Hydrometeorology Institute director Agron Shala has requested support from the MCC for other air quality projects as well.
“) All the work you have done, the equipment you have donated, and the monitoring of air quality, but it also needs the future with cooperation. So for what has been done, we will now visit part of them. There is also another part of the project, which we need in the future to sustain even more, for it can be made a several - day prediction in terms of air quality”, Shala stressed.
During the day MCC representatives have participated in yet another activity in Pristina on the occasion of completing the 5-year programme “Grate in Energy”, which is contributing towards overcoming the large gender gap in Kosovo's energy sector.
