Kurti on Day of Europe: For Kosovo, the European Union begins at home

Through a post on the social network Facebook, Kurti says that for Kosovo, the European Union begins at home by living up to the changes that transform our country and accelerate EU membership.

He writes far that Kosovo is the most democratic country in the Western Balkans.

Today, on May 9, on Europe Day, we remember French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman's statement. We remember the ideas and ideals of the European Union founders who after the destruction of two world wars realized that peace to be stable must be related to justice, equality, cooperation and the possibility of a better life; that integration and interdependence bring more gain and opportunity than rivalry and counters.

The European Union is a project and process for Europe and all its citizens who believe in the values of freedom and democracy, justice and equality, human rights and civil rights, freedom of expression and freedom of media, rule of law and independence of the judiciary.

These values are now being protected in Ukraine. There, in front of an aggressor and despotic conqueror, the idea of a free and united Europe is being defended. It is on this day that we have to vow to protect and accelerate the European Union project by integrating Kosovo, the entire Western Balkans, and all peace - loving European states that embrace our common values, including Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

Kosovo is the most democratic country in the Western Balkans. We believe in democracy that fights autocrats, in the rule of law that fights corruption and in developed economies that enhance the welfare of all.

By our rule, we are witnessing that for Kosovo the European Union begins at home by living through changes that transform our country and accelerate membership in the European Union.
